On this website, the PLATINA 2 project provides you with information on inland navigation transport policy in Europe.
PLATINA 2 (2013 - 2016) is a European Coordination Action supporting the implementation of the NAIADES 2 policy package "Towards quality inland waterway transport", which aims at promoting this sustainable mode of transport. PLATINA 2 brings together all the relevant actors in the inland waterway sector in a multi-disciplinary knowledge network to foster the development of inland navigation into an even more sustainable and competitive part of multimodal European transport networks. The project strongly builds on the results of the PLATINA project (2008-2012).
NAIADES 2 is an initiative of the European Commission to enhance the use of inland navigation as part of intermodal freight solutions, in order to create a sustainable, competitive and environmentally friendly European wide transport network.
PLATINA 2 is implemented by a consortium of 12 partners from seven different countries under the coordination of viadonau and funded by the European Commission (DG MOVE) under the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development.
The Roadmap Report and Progress Report, presented by the project consortium to the Advisory Committee for critical review, provide a review of technical results achieved and an outlook on activities and outputs planned for the future. They cover activities from September 2013 to July 2014, and contain a preview of activities from August 2014 to July 2015, with focus on the second half of 2014.
The Dissemination Plan contains a detailed listing of envisaged dissemination activities in PLATINA 2, for each sub work package, and covering the whole project duration.
On 18 June 2015, the intermediate results were presented.
