Greening tool

The EU project Platina2 presents the Greening tool to give ship operators state-of-the-art information about the different retrofit greening technologies currently available. On the website, vessel owners/operators can fill in the operational details best describing their situation (e.g. type of vessel, operating hours, costs, etc) to get an estimation of the return on investment of these greening options to their individual business case, as well as their potential impact on emissions.

With this tool, the EU project Platina2 aims to facilitate the market uptake of emission reduction technologies. The Greening Tool is based around innovations that are the most feasible, practicable, with the best expected return on investment, and potentially offer the biggest effect on emissions. The tool includes in particular the technologies LNG, Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), since these are proven technologies. The tool will be progressively updated with new promising technologies entering the market as soon as sufficient reliable data become available.

Prominent
PROMINENT is a multiannual research- and implementation program for the inland navigation industry. The work focuses on research, testing and introducing economically viable, safe and green alternative energy concepts and technologies for the European inland navigation industry. PROMINENT focuses mainly on the realisation of cost efficient standard solutions applicable to minimum seventy percent of the European inland navigation fleet. Herewith relatively expensive innovations will be made available for ship owning companies who face problems to finance these innovations.
